Independence Youth Cheerleading
Program Overview
Our program is open to children from Pre-K (must be 4 by Sept 1st) through 6th grade, and we cheer for Independence Youth Football.
Our season runs from August to October for sideline cheer and extends until November (possibly longer) for competition cheer.
Competition Cheer (Optional)
Competition cheer is available for athletes on our White, Blue, and Gold Squads.
This is an optional extension of our program, and participants must also participate in sideline cheer.
Eligibility
Independence Youth Cheerleading is for residents of Independence only.
Our Mission
At Independence Youth Cheerleading, we are committed to fostering leadership both on and off the field. We aim to provide our athletes with a fun, safe, and inspiring experience that encourages personal and team growth.
Teams are organized by grade:
Pre-K/K (Mini Squad)
1st - 2nd grade (White Squad)
3rd - 4th grade (Blue Squad)
5th - 6th grade (Gold Squad)
Please note that game schedules are tentative and subject to change prior to the beginning of the season in August.
You will always find the most accurate practice and game schedule in the Band app.

2025 Cost & Schedule
Our Band App will always have the most up to date schedules.
Mini Squad (Pink) - Pre-K & K. Must be 4 years old prior to September 1st. Birth Certificates will be required for this squad.
Cost:
$100 Registration Fee (includes t-shirt, sweatshirt, skirt, bow, & use of IYC poms)
Practices:
Wednesday 4:30-5:00pm
Games:
This squad will likely have 5-6 game days on Saturday mornings in Independence. Time and location TBD.
White Squad - 1st & 2nd Grade.
Cost:
$200 Registration Fee (includes t-shirt, sweatshirt, bow, brief, shoes & use of IYC shell, skirt, liner, and poms)
*Shell, liner, and skirt are returned at the end of the season
$50 – additional fee for optional comp team
Practices:
Practices will be held Tues and Weds
Games:
This squad will likely have games on Wednesdays in Independence. Time and location TBD.
Competition: This is optional. We will attend 3 or 4 competitions this year.
Blue Squad - 3rd & 4th Grade.
Cost:
$200 Registration Fee (includes t-shirt, sweatshirt, bow, brief, shoes & use of IYC shell, skirt, liner, and poms)
*Shell, liner, and skirt are returned at the end of the season
$50 – additional fee for optional comp team
Practices:
Practices will be held Tues and Weds
Games:
7 games (and possible playoffs) as part of the Lake Erie Youth Football League.
Amherst, Avon, Avon Lake, Buckeye, Cloverleaf, Olmstead Falls, Westlake, Midview, North Ridgeville and Rocky River
Games are usually on Saturday any time between 9am-1pm. Expect 1-2 home games and the rest away. Games will likely begin in Aug.
We may also cheer at some Independence Rec Flag games on Tues/Thurs nights.
Competition: This is optional. We will attend 3 or 4 competitions this year.
Gold Squad - 5th & 6th Grade.
Cost:
$200 Registration Fee (includes t-shirt, sweatshirt, bow, brief, shoes & use of IYC shell, skirt, liner, and poms)
*Shell, liner, and skirt are returned at the end of the season
$50 – additional fee for optional comp team
Practices:
Practices will be held Tues and Weds
Games:
7 games (including playoffs) as part of the Chagrin Valley Conference Youth Football League.
Beachwood, Berkshire, Cardinal, Chagrin Falls, Grand Valley, Hawken, Ledgemont, Orange, Trinity, University School and Wickliffe
Games will be on Saturdays or Sundays anytime between 9am-1pm. Games were played on Sundays last year due to a ref shortage. Expect 1-2 home games and the rest will be away. Games will likely begin in Sept.
We may also cheer at some Independence Rec Flag games on Tues/Thurs nights.
Competition: This is optional. We will attend 3 or 4 competitions this year.
