Great coaches make all the difference

 

We believe that with incorporating the USA football model that we have an excellent platform for youth football here in Independence, but all these modern theories don’t mean anything if we don’t have passionate, competent, well-trained coaches who can deliver the model. We expect our coaches to treat each player like family, make practices fun so all the kids are excited to come and hold the line with age appropriate discipline.

We want our parents to feel confident that their kids coaches are not only certified through a national organization but also supported and mentored by our High School staff and our IYF leadership. We are going to invest in our coaches to make sure they are trained with the skills and knowledge to teach our culture, core values and best practices for safety and practice organization year in and year out.

COACHING REQUIREMENTS:

We believe our kids deserve the best coaching experience we can give them to best ensure they enjoy football that is fun and safe and in alignment with USA Footballs spirit of the game. No doubt coaching youth football is a commitment and it starts with obtaining the proper certifications. IYF coaches must complete all our requirements to be able to step on the field to coach. The leagues we are a members of, LEYFL and CVC, also require these coaching requirements as well.

  1. USA Football Certification: Every 2 years with recert test 2nd year (1/2 Flag = Flag cert at Football Development | USA Football and 3/4 Padded Flag and 5/6 Rookie tackle =Tackle Cert at Football Development | USA Football

  3. NFHS Cardiac Arrest: Every year Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course (nfhslearn.com)

  4. CPR Certified (recommended): Indy Fire Department will be hosting a CPR class in August, details TBA
