  • 8, in a first year program that had to start last minute due to COVID it went well. As the program grows there will be more time to get more upper level coaches and alumni involved.

  • My one son played flag and liked it my other son never played and really enjoyed the fundamentals of it.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

  • The focus on fundamentals and having fun!

  • The confidence my son developed over the course of almost 3 months. I also loved watching the coaches interact with their players...I have never seen an organization that put such an emphasis on respect, discipline, teamwork, and having fun. The coaching staff was phenomenal in developing these kids!

  • The program was amazing! I enjoyed the energy, leadership, and development of the youth program. I love that each player had opportunity to grow while sharing common goals from start to finish! Communication was on point! Thank you Coach Woods! I loved seeing action shots, film and social media updates.

  • The on field competition.

  • Seeing the start of a "program" that entails K-12th grade. This will be a huge part of the success at the high school level in the future

  • The opportunity for our kids to learn and play the game.

  • Friends working together, teamwork.

  • I really enjoyed all the kids learning and having fun with this football program. This is the first time my boys did tackle. I have an older son and they didnt have this when it was his age.

  • To have an official youth football program in Indy. Seems like there is a very good long term plan in place.

  • The experience for the kids, they all seemed to really enjoy it. It was a great learning experience.

  • Very well organized and communication was great!

Is there any anything you did not like about our program or think we could do better next year?

  • Can we get games closer to home :) In all reality, my husband and I have said all season we could not believe this was the first year for IYF because the program ran so smoothly. Thank you for everything you did for the kids, and community.

  • 1. End practices on time - parents are planning the day around this. 2. Shorten emails. 3. Guest speakers - less is more. Too many drown out the message. 4. Most important - develop players for football, not a particular system. Fundamentally sound players can pick up the high school system when they get to high school.

  • Being a first year program there are growing pains. This program will be a great stepping stone for the high school program by teaching what our varsity does but also making sure to keep those who love the game involved. I think as players progress from flag to tackle the coaches and program will be able to identify positions for most kids and the continued development of those players at those positions will be helpful. Also, I would suggest communicating to the parents (some just want to see wins, they do not get that this is a process) that the things the players are being coached are things that will prepare them for success at Independence HS football.

  • Just continue to evolve and learn.

  • Maybe once the games started fewer practices.

  • All together I think it was a great program and taught the kids a lot about football. I even had fun playing power puff game with the moms.

  • Since it’s the first year it’s hard to compare what may have been done in the past. I think maybe starting earlier and maybe adding an additional practice to work on fundamentals like proper tackling.

  • I think everyone involved did a great job.
