2025 SPRING FLAG:

Our spring flag program is a partnership with Brecksville to offer our communities a top notch Spring Flag program for PreK - 6th grade (current grade levels).

We feel it’s important to offer Spring Flag as it’s a growing version of youth football that will help our kids be more competitive when we play other communities in the Fall. Also, we feel it gives kids the opportunity who didn’t play in our Fall programs to experience Indy Youth Football in a low time commitment and non-contact environment that focuses on meaningful participation for all.

The format for the Flag Divisions will be 5-on-5 or 6-on-6, depending on sign ups, no offensive or defensive line play with all offensive players eligible to catch a pass.

DIVISIONS:

• PreK/K Rookie Flag:

  • 30 minutes of drills followed by 30 minutes of age appropriate game play. Must be in Pre-K in 2024-2025 school year to participate.

• 1/2 Flag: 1st/2nd graders in the 2024-2025 school year.

  • Kindergartners who a) have previously completed our fall or spring rookie flag program, and b) will be enrolled in 1st grade in Fall 2025, are eligible to play in the 1/2 Flag division. Kindergartners who elect this option should be capable of following directions at a 1st grade level, so as to not detract from the development of their teammates.

• 3/4 Flag: 3rd/4th graders in the 2024-2025 school year.

• 5/6 Flag: 5th/6th graders in the 2024-2025 school year.

COST: $25 for Rookie Flag and $100 for Flag and all players will receive a reversible jersey.

SCHEDULE: All games on Sundays except where noted. Coaches may hold optional mid-week practices at their discretion.

Games will start every hour on the hour at 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00. Schedule will be released the last week of March. Most coaches have a pre-game practice/warm up 30-45 minutes before game time.

• Week 1 April 6 @ BHS 1-4

• Week 2 April 13 @ BHS 1-4

• Week 3 April 27 @ IHS 1-4

• Week 4 May 4 @ IHS 1-4 

• Week 5 Friday night May 9 @IHS (Time TBD)

PRACTICES: There will be limited practice sessions for the program and we will leave it up to each coach’s discretion of when to have practices. You can expect to have a few practices the last 2 weeks of March before games begin and possibly one mid-week during the game season.

REGISTRATION: Sign ups run through March 15th. Teams will be announced shortly after.

This more casual approach to football with a short season and no week day practices is a great opportunity for kids with limited exposure to football to get involved.

Playing flag football with your buddies is a blast. Kids love getting outside on the turf in the Spring after being cooped up all Winter.

Preparing for the Fall.

All of our teams will run versions of our IYF base plays that we use in the fall. We want our kids to get the reps to know our plays inside and out so there is limited cognitive load and can play free and with confidence when it matters the most.
