IYF to join Lake Erie Youth Football League for 3/4 Padded Flag

The Avon League we have participated in for 3/4 grade Padded Flag the last 2 season has merged with the existing Lake Erie Youth Football League, LEYFL, that was founded in 2009. We will be joining along with Avon and Rocky River to play in the LEYFL this season. The other communities in this league are as follows.

• Amherst (40 minute drive)

• Avon (30 minute drive)

• Buckeye (35 minute drive)

• Independence

• Midview (30 minute drive)

• North Ridgeville (25 minute drive)

• Rocky River (20 minute drive)

We are excited about the opportunity to join this extremely well run league and be able to play more communities. We’re confident this is the best youth football experience our 3/4 graders can participate in to prepare them for 5/6 grade Rookie Tackle football. The travel in this league looks to be on par with what our 5/6 graders will experience in their CVC league as well.

Information we have as of now

• We are expecting around 20 teams that will be split into 2 divisions, one with more 4th graders and the other with more 3rd graders, to best ensure even competition.

• Games will be played Saturday mornings between 9-12 rotating through all the communities in the league, we will have home games. We hope to have a schedule around Mid July.

• First game is August 27th and last regular season game October 8th. We will need to move up when we start practices for this level. Likely beginning Monday August 8th but we will confirm at a later date as we process this transition.

• There is playoff round October 15th where winners move on to the Semi-Finals October 22nd with a Championship game on October 29th.

• The referees and league take the rules and sportsmanship very seriously to ensure a great experience for the kids.
